The death penalty is morally not good. It's like revenge or getting even, a double edged sword. Logically it makes sense to get even and prevent them from doing any more damage, but really killing people off because they killed others is a little more based on the emotional side of things. There are some studies that say that life imprisonment can be cheaper than the death penalty, which also prevents the execution of an innocent person if they are proven not guilty post-trial.
