Getting into cryptos can be difficult and incredibly daunting. If you're looking to just get your foot in the door, I'd recommend checking out some faucet websites or sites with offerwalls that pay in BTC. Doing that would essentially get you a small amount of crypto free which you could then invest.

Don't even bother with mining. It is not profitable in any way unless you have an enormous amount of capital to put into it.

Going back onto the investment part - If you're not worried about spending a little cash, buy some BTC and try trading alt-coins. There are tons of graphs and resources online that will help you make successful trades, just be wary of what you listen to. Furthermore, DO NOT invest what you can't afford to lose. All investments are the same: they're not a guaranteed return. I've doubled plenty of investments but I have also lost a TON to poor decision making.
