This is my first post in this forum, so I hope you enjoy it.

I think we've all been there before: going to the nearest game shop to buy that new title you were waiting for the release of. It's pretty great when the game delivers a great experience, engaging story and characters, and innovative mechanics that really take you by surprise. But when a game doesn't happen to deliver what it promised or it fails to make for a good experience, people get upset about it, rightfully so. This tends to happen when games are part of a commercially successful franchise and the developers just make a half-assed copy of the original, resulting in an underwhelming or generic experience. Take Fallout 76, for example, Bethesda used the hype surrounding the Fallout series to make a quick cash grab for the company. Even the game without bugs wouldn't be worth $60 because of its shallow content.

This lack of depth in games happens due to franchise milking. When you release games from the same franchise very often it's easy to take the magic out of these entries because all of them typically use the same mechanics, concepts, and characters, resulting in a predictable experience for those who have played other entries of that franchise.

In another case like No Man's Sky, the developers just overpromised, resulting in a game that didn't live up to the fans' expectations when it got released, however, the developers owned up to their marketing errors and are trying to improve the game by updating it frequently. This also happened with Sea of Thieves where Rare added more content to the game to make the game less empty and repetitive and add an extra challenge for players.

Sadly, this doesn't apply to most of these games, when companies see that they're games aren't selling well or aren't being well received they just run away with the money and leave us with a shit product. Of course, I'm not saying it's justifiable to release a game that isn't good and fix it later with free DLC, I'm just saying it's better than doing nothing about it.

This really says a lot about the current game industry, most companies just care about profit and nothing else, at the cost of our enjoyment, so they stick to the same characters, mechanics and core gameplay and are always milking the same franchises instead of being innovative and creating games with a different spin to them, that feel fresh and brand new. And since they believe in quantity over quality, they end up with a rushed piece of shit game that was made just to be a cash grab. At least some of these companies and developers have the decency to make the experience better by updating their game regularly. And others take this even further by adding paid DLC, just to make the game even remotely acceptable. AnywaysI'mmaend this rant here..
