Android is better for applications ?

There is no way to get own Apps onto your phone on an iOS device (beside a jailbreak). That's not even a problem on an Android device. As sheler said - every platform has it's own advantages. The disadvantage not being able to launch own Apps on iOS devices is the biggest advantage too. For developer it's way easier to create an app for a couple of devices (iOS) and not - I dunno how many different Android devices are even out there - hundreds of single devices.
Apple usually is pretty fast to delete apps from the Appstore that are malicious. Google don't cares that much about that...
