I miss the old days when all you had to worry about was building a shelter, finding some diamonds, and farming crops and animals. The addition of The End was about as far as I could keep playing vanilla before it felt like a changed game entirely. Definitely still hop into classic MC for that very reason from time to time, there's a reason you can still find it around!
