While there were a few obviously sad scenes (like the "sunflower field" part or the beginning), I found most parts of the game to be sad in a subtle way. It was a bit jarring to witness this sadness alongside all the more humorous parts of the game - the game did a great job of constrasting positive and negative emotions.
