Why is fortnite So popular ?

I started playing fortnite in season 2 with friends and it was so fun, but when they brang out all of this crazy ass flying shit and jetpack shit... the game just went to shit imo. I really think they have made the game too EXTRA in attempt to "please the fans" but I think they are just sellouts trying to make a bunch of money "which is working" but i just feel like the game has just gone so bad... I cannot even watch a fortnite clip anymore.
