First time I ever tried survival, I tried to break wood by spam-clicking it. It didn't work.
Later, when I figured out how to break blocks, I decided to mine. I dug, you guessed it, straight down. I fell into a cave full of monsters, was torn to shreds, and respawned, determined to get my stuff back. I jumped down my hole, only to fall ~70 blocks and die. "I know!" I thought to myself, "I'll use my gold to make boots! Those will surely break my fall." It turns out, boots don't work like that. Oh well.
Ooh, last one, I promise. Early on, when I was still learning the basics of crafting, I played "The Walls" with a good friend. During the beginning of the match, I helped him harvest wood. Then he asked me to make sticks. Right, sticks. Just 2 wood thingy thangs on a crafting table. I tried every possible shape with these 2 wood thingy thangs, except for putting them in a 1 by 2 column. I had completely forgotten how to make a stick. He had to make them for me. We still talk about this, 'cause he thought it was hilarious. About 2 minutes later, during the same game, I fell into lava in what was probably the most pathetic parkour attempt in the history of Minecraft.
