Even stuff like moving around your mouse or scrolling on a webpage would look smoother, so there are applications outside of games for a higher refresh rate. For now I care more about color quality, viewing angles, and port selection than refresh rate, but if I had a lot of money I think there are some monitors that give the best of both worlds now.
