Nowadays I find that unless you are 24x7 on the phone the batteries typically last the longevity that is the expected lifecycle of the phone. Look at the pixel devices, they usually only have a 2-3 years EOL. By that time the software/ROM has changed so much that the hardware has a hard time keeping up with it anyways and a new device is really warranted.
