Hey, I was wondering, if I get arrested, in what case should I ask for a lawyer? Isnt asking for one looking guilty? I wanna know which case it is good to call a lawyer and in which it's better to cooperate. What you guys think? Any experience?

I've been arrested a few times and I've got court in march for assault. It really depends on what its for, if you're arrested and you have the possibility of doing time then don't say anything. Be a bit of a prick, police will try and manipulate you and pretend they're your friend to get little bits of information. Don't tell them anything about you not even what you had for breakfast. I just say "i need my lawyer before i say anything" Keep repeating it.

There's nothing wrong with defending your rights, even the cops presume you to be guilty. Don't be agreeable with them, many are opportunists who care far more for their own career than to protect or serve.

There is nothing wrong with getting a lawyer, in most cases it would make you look more innocent to the jury having lawyer rather than self defending yourself.

Defending your rights is never a bad choice. Don't even think about it just ask for your lawyer.

In my point of view it doesn't look like you're guilty because you called a lawyer, especially considering how often people are falsely accused of crimes.
Unless there is a trial and you are actually considered guilty, you must be presumed innocent.

Now I do think there is a group of people who think anyone who can afford to hire a lawyer must be a criminal, an exploiter of the working class. Probably this perception of one confessing his guilt just because he/she hired a lawyer stems from it.
