Backwards compatibility problem???

Ok, so I haven't really been interested in the BC program until the recent release of original Xbox games on the XB1.

So I thought I would buy KOTOR, but when I went to purchase the game it says "you have no valid payment options on file. Microsoft account balances cannot be used in this purchase channel"
So is the only way to pay for it is to add a credit card, which I don't and never will have, so am I basically screwed and have to hunt down a physical copy?
I also checked the 360 games and it said I cannot buy them from the XB1, only on the 360 or Xbox.com, so are Microsoft really taking the piss with this or does someone know if it's a problem on my end that can be easily fixed.
Also Ninja Gaiden isn't even on there and I can't even find it in the search bar, looks like another game that skips Australia.
