Battle Royale: Why did it take over?

Why do you guys believe the battle royale gamemode took over by storm. what was the underlying reasons

The fact that you could be in a lobby where you really only have a 1 or limited lives depending on whether reboot and the stakes that are high. In higher end competitive games like fortnite where you have 50 people alive in the last smallest circle is insane and will test so many skills as rotation and raw skill and teamwork. I feel like teamwork is the reason that made battle royale so huge

It was something new for the people i think.

i think it was new for everyone since back then it used to be team vs team multiplayer
