Benefits to viber or whatsapp

#1 Everyone i know uses viber, so thats pretty much my app or choice, however i wanted to see are there any benefits to using whatsapp over it, does the app have something, or are all of these pretty much the same?

In Germany all is about personal data secureness but most people use whatsapp. why ? because whatsapp was first and all using it :D its hard to confince them to another app.
But to answer your question: They are mostly the same.

As it stands whatsapp has more features than viber but soon they will be adding advertisements into whatsapp.
If you're not comfortable you can stick with viber.
