After "Lurking" around the forum, I have noticed users saying that most modifications do not work with XF2. Would be wise to use XF1 as most modifications probably work anyway?

Opinions?

You can upgrade your forum and then upgrade the modifications. There are too many improvements in 2.x version.

Actually there are many Addons being implemented for Xf2. That include important modifications that most forums use. I expect all forums owners will switch into Version 2.0 in the coming months.

Many doesn't necessary mean the one I am looking after...
For example, I use an old Photo Contest addon which is now unmaintained and certainly won't be ported to 2.X ... :(
