I've found that I want to start losing weight. But aside from going to the gym and eating healthy, what are other tips and tricks people have used?

Start counting calories, and be consistent. Look up and find how many calories you need to consume to maintain your weight, and cut it downa bit. Apps like lose it or my fitness pal help greatly in my experience.

You don't need anything else, a proper diet for you and going to the gym is sufficient. Consider visiting a dietician.

Gonna be hard to go to the Gym now a days but come up with a workout plan for yourself and a diet you think is correct. Three meals a day. Make sure you eat breakfeast its the most important meal of the day!

While it really depends on your genetics and biology, I would recommend two things. 1.) Adjust your diet to have less saturated fats and just generally eat healthier; 2.) Make sure to get daily physical activity, specifically cardio and other calorie-burning work-outs. Even if you do a little a day you'll hopefully make some progress. Maybe talk to your parents or grandparents about how they managed their weight, often times body type is one of the largest factors and knowing what works best to be fit as that body type is the best and most efficient route to go; if not, trial by error.
