i'd say for motion design c4d is your best bet because of the large amount of tools available

Can someone explain the difference? C4D is paid, but what benefits does it have?

It's an accepted industry standard so has credibility, so you would be using what other pro's use in the mograph industry.
There are also great plugins available like Insydium fused etc. Blender is free though so still a good resource to learn o n, but sometimes its better to use what the rest of industry uses so you are compatible - especially for sharing project files etc

Cinema 4D is more simplistic than blender i guess

If you are a beginner, definitely blender. There is a metric **** ton of tutorials online for blender, and blender itself isn't that hard to learn

Both, actually depend on ur workflow and preference.
c4d is like more professional
Blender have really good community
