I currently have an older iPhone 6 Plus and it's really about time for a new phone but I'm going back and forth on sticking with Apple and getting something like an iPhone X OR switching to Android and getting something like a Pixel 3.

Can anyone share their experience doing that switch? Will I be able to keep my music? Is there anyway to transfer saved content in Apps over the Android versions of those apps?

I transferred from iPhone 6 to an S7 Edge and never looked back. Apps like whatsapp, instagram, etc. all [can have the ability to] backup your data in the cloud for a situation like this.
I now own an S9+ and still have all my whatsapp messages from my old iPhone 6 on this new phone.
Now, for music, it's a different story. If you bought each individual song off of iTunes, then yeah, you can't bring them over to your new phone, but if you have a subscription like Spotify or even Apple Music, then yeah they'll work on your new phone. Hope this makes your transition easier :D
