I am using cloudflare to protect my VPS as it has no DDoS protection. It will not really be a target for attacks, just some extra security. Although; I am aware that people can bypass it. I have only tried the methods I know which is to look through all my record on the domain and add them to Cloudflare also scanned it with this site.

So my question is: Is there any other precautions I could take to make it more secure? And patch all methods?

Have you installed fail2ban and iptables?
If not, install it and configure.
If you have free cloudflare plan you don't get DDoS protection.

Use Blazingfast for far more security against skid ddos attacks.
Someone with an advanced botnet could take any webstie down.
