Defunding Police

As everyone here has said, defund the police, crime goes up. Crime goes up, the good people see this as a threat and gtfo. Then all that's left is the crime-ridden and the poor who couldn't afford to leave before it got too bad. That money isn't going to be invested into proper education, it's going to line the pockets of those who have big money already.

As far as I'm concerned nothing will change for the better. It will only get worse.

Using the phrasing of "defunding" is so stupid honestly. Obviously people are going to latch onto that word and shut down the entire discussion.

cops dont need to be called to every situation, things like wellness checks and other issues should be dealt with people trained for it. cops aren't trained for shit lol

It's definitely a scary thing to think about. If they do defund the police i don't really see it getting any better as something else will probably just grow to take their place.

If anything the police could use more funding and training, not less. Expecting a peacekeeping force to be organised by some other power other than the govt is also retarded unless you expect neighbourhoood watches to handle crime all over the country.

Sounds like police are just scared and under funded most of the time - defunding will just make the issue worse

We as society should be deweaponized in general, not only the police force

Unfortunate use of words. Defunded should not have been the way to describe it. Money needs to be diverted to social workers that can work alongside police as well as training police for de-escalation and dealing with mental illness

its just a matter of how much money you spend on police, oppossed to other public progams and mental progams. Take a slice of police budget and distribute towards other needed programs
