Hypixel is hitting all time peaks over 100,000 players. Minecraft isn't going anywhere as long as a game such as Hytale isn't able to compete with it.

I play it once a year for nostalgia pretty much. No, I wouldn't say it is as popular but it sure has a lot of people playing it to this day.

I still drop by whenever I have some friends to play with, it's one of those games that's really fun if you have people to play it with. Honestly I've been thinking about playing some beta Minecraft for nostalgia at some point...

I used to play online servers, but too much drama. Now it's with modpacks like texkit.
