Freshman Computer Science Major Looking for Tips

I am currently a freshman computer science major in college starting off with an introduction to programming course at my university. Im learning the beginning principlesof Java in this class and writing very short, basic programs.I was wondering if anybody on this forum had any recommendations or tips for resources I could utilize to become more familiar with the programming language. Software development is something I really want to pursue and have an aspiration for.
