Good mod recomendationd

Is there any mods you guys would recommend for someone just starting out?

there is an excellent build called better minecraft great for a beginner player

i like Simple Plane, u have a lot of plane and contrast with the mc world

I can recommend Tinkers Construct, NEI, Mo 'Bends, The Twilight Forest

You schould try a minechem witch industrial craft, applied energetics 2 and buildercraft. You can build a working diamond farm.

Immersive Portals is a must-have in my opinion. It doesn't really change gameplay too much but it looks incredible. The only downside is that you may need a decent computer to use it.
