Google Maps API issue in IP Board 4.0

Hi Guys.
I'm using a pretty old version of IP Board [4.0.4] mainly due to server php limitations.
For what i'm using it for, it does the trick.

However, since it was released way before googles recent-ish maps api key requirement .. these functions of the board do not work.
Not only that, but anything requiring maps is rendered useless [calendars for example].

I was wondering if any of you guys came across this and would know how to fix?
