Have something you want to make and work towards learning how to do it. Python is probably the easiest language to automate stuff but the "downside" is that anyone can learn it, so don't expect it to land you a job.

Using google you can download visual studio, I use c# alot, it isnt hard to read the documentation it comes with for the language, I learned from there Smile

There are many strategies. The one that is best for you depend on your goals, what you already know, and the quality of what you already know. Udemy would be good start point.
