Is Genshin Impact a Gatcha Simulator?

#1 I have a friend who plays this and he's always talking about rarity of certain characters and stuff like that. He never talks about the actual gameplay so Im just curious to know if you guys, the players, think if it's just a Gatcha Simulator

You can definitely play the game without spending money, especially if you're careful about collecting free primogems whenever they're available. It does have a gacha system, though, so if you know you have an addictive personality, you might be better off avoiding the game. RIP to my roommate who spends hundreds of dollars pulling for new waifus.
