To me it seems like minecraft is starting to begin its journey on losing content updates and resulting from that they will start losing popularity. Minecraft has had many updates but from clear evidence it there are huge gaps between content updates and it seems like the content developers are trying to move on to other things.

non penso che un gioco cosi rappresentativo nel mondo dei ragazzi e dei giochi possa arrivare a un punto morto

I don't think that Minecraft is coming to a standstill any time soon. They're still growing.

I dont think so , the Nether Update introduced tons of new build ideas , with new blocks(black stone is my favorite) , unburnable wood, ect. Just exploring the nether is so much more enjoyable now.

I've been playing minecraft for some time now and the updates have always pleased me by implementing new things, the last one on the nether is sensational 1.16.3 this is full of news I recommend giving another chanse because the content developers have been implementing things little by little but they are still active

As you mentioned, players counter does go down when "update" getting older, content being a bit stale resulting non-interest for the game. In fact time to time, this happens almost to every game thus when Minecraft releases a new update it will attract back some of the community and gain back the popularity the same as Terraria. You got a point on Minecraft losing content which I think you have to speculate that Minecraft is an open world with massive potential yet to be discover, many ideas were tossed around about next update to be, what lore would be tale, and probably new mechanism would be implement. To my point of view minecraft is not being into a standstill, it still surrounded by big community (modding, server, etc) just to keep it going for now.
