It's not LQ to use a ripped theme.

This is really just my opinion unless you're with me on it. I see a lot of new forums go up and people use ripped themes because well, people are ripping good looking themes that cost upwards to $250 if they're custom. So what?

You see, I never really cared how a theme looked on a forum. If it looks good then it's a plus but there are tons of forums out there with simple themes that wouldn't even be worth $20 and are HUGE.

I always thought it was the content on a forum that drove me to become active rather than appearance.

Thoughts?

A lot of really popular forums are also extremely old. Most probably didn't have the opportunity to
use baller lookin' themes at the time and never bothered to 'fix' what wasn't broken. I personally care
about looks a lot but I think most people would agree with you. If you find the content interesting and
the theme is functional enough to read and post then what else really matters on a discussion board

You didn't make it.
You didn't pay for it.
I assume you're not going to put a banner on the front stating that it's not yours.
It's a dick move, and it's definitely LQ at the very least.

It's the same as using a cracked software.
You didn't feel any shame using a free version of photoshop ?

If you're trying to make a legit forum then no using ripped themes is not okay.
It makes your forum look cheap, copied, and no one will take it seriously.
Wanna know why people pay hundreds for a legit theme?
Because they actually want to put an effort into their forum, and not try to make a cash grab project which the majority of forums with ripped themes do.
If you're to cheap to pay for a custom theme then odds are you should just give up on making one.
And one final thing, the cost of a forum theme means jack shit in regards to quality and how people feel about it.
If I spend $5,000 on a shitty theme it'll still be a shitty theme.
