#1 When v3 releases, maybe have an option to be on v2? Or at least v2.5, a hybrid between v2 and v3. It could also be a cool upgraded feature if you're into that kind of stuff. Nostalgia is a funny thing.

#2 V2 and V3 are like Windows XP and Windows 10. Its not just the theme, it has a huge amount of features that are not on V2. I can't tell you now, but you will see.
V3 has certain new *things* that need to be rebuilt on V2. But it will just double the work. Not denying this completely, but its highly unlikely.

I've seen a few of these things that aren't on V2, but maybe just disable them in legacy mode?

I also use a userscript to improve my expierience on here cuz some things on V2 are really annoying.
If it doesn't get to happen, then I'll probably end up doing that anyways.
