Don't ever use anything from google or outside sources. Not using stuff online helps you grow, to make your own things from scratch. For references it's okay to look at sources. This is pretty darn good for a first UB. I can tell you a lot of things to help you out, but you'll figure that out later on if you choose to pursue ub designing.
Try being more consistent with your design. For example the thickness of the line on the bottom is higher than the 6 lines on the side. The reason why I was able to pull off my userbars was consistency, designing everying pixel by pixel.
