Need a first Anime to watch

If you want recommendations, then be a bit more specific what kind of genre of entertainment you enjoy. Saying that anime is a "genre" is extremely wrong considering it would be the same as saying that "movies is a genre". As with most entertainment, "anime" / "animation" is a medium just like movies or comics. You wouldn't ask someone to recommend you a movie unless the person knew your interests or you told them about those interests.

Something funny or something brutal. I don't really care tbh. If it's entertaining or following a great storyline I don't mind

How about Death Note or Bleach
Those are my favourite animes and You could probably like them

Sakurasou was probably the best anime to get into. It's extremely reslisic, going over some rough subjects, but not too rough. It is written and animated beautifully.
After watching that I recommend you watch the Flower we saw that day. That shit is absolutely heart wrenching

Others have a more serious and gore like theme to it like Death Note or Anjin. Then we have shows like Hero =/= Mask which mimics more western genres like James Bond or Hellsing which is more akin to a traditional "Van Helsing" like tale.
