Nuclear Disarmament - Is it possible for all countries?

Something that I suddenly remembered when I recalled the meeting of Pres. Kim Jong Un of North Korea and also Pres. Donald Trump of USA of course. NoKor signed that they are disarming their nukes to show they are willing to give peace a chance esp between North and South Korea.

So yeah. The topic itself is intriguing. And I'm pretty sure the Industrial, Superpower countries namely USA, China, Russia and some countries in Europe would definitely not do such a thing because those governments think of their nukes as a way to protect their sovereignty on their countries. What others don't know is the freaking nuclear waste these countries get from the nukes which are so radioactive that it is hard to dispose (thinking about it, these governments should dispose it in space instead if it is possible).

I'm living in a country that is not a superpower (that doesn't have nukes)and I really am scared thinking that things might not go well especially on what happened on Chernobyl, Russia years ago.

So what can you say? Do you think world leaders would actually agree to disarm their nukes and give world peace a chance? I'm just wondering since I saw it in a movie. But that's just in the movies. And I wonder what Einstein's reaction would be if he is still living until today that his equation is being used to produce these bombs?

only for countries that have nuclear weapons. Honestly though I don't think the military or scientists controlling the weapons would give trump or kim the button

Nuclear weapons are like pandora's box, you can't just open the box and then close it, it doesn't work that way. No matter how peaceloving a nation will be, and no matter how good the diplomats are, conflicts will always happen, and someone someday will develop and build their own weapons under the radar of everyone else.

I don't see any country agreeing to give up their nuclear weapons. If you take a look at history, one thing that has remained constant, are wars. Those that were not able to defend themselves have basically become colonies of stronger world powers, just think of Africa and what the Europeans did to them. Take a look at what China is doing to their neighbours. The only way that wars could be ended, and nuclear weapons are abandoned, is if somehow something was done to make everyone on this planet come together.

Nuclear disarmament could be an effective way of easing tensions with other nations.

That'sunfortunately how it goes. To have the edge on others; conflicts instill and push this pattern into a never ending cycle.

Sadly, this is too true. All we've learned from history is that it's inevitably going to happen. Somehow, somewhere, someone always does worse than anyone could imagine.

I think Einstein said the potential 3rd world war will not last too long because of the nukes BUT the 4th, people will fight throwing stones and spears. Pretty scary if you think about it, especially when for the last few years it was tense between some countries.

The big powers won't give up nukes, and smaller states are incentivised to get nukes because its the only way to guarantee their survival in the international system. If you have nukes, you have more leverage in the negotiating table compared to if you don't.
