I have a beginner's question.

A better choice is to buy a web hosting or buy a VPS and install LEMP or LAMP. I can handle unix install lemp lamp or ssl(letsencrypt). The question is what's safer

It depends what you're going for really, if you know Linux, then its probably better to go for the VPS =)

A VPS will always be safer, or as safe as you make it. If you have no idea what you're doing whatsoever I would recommend you stick to shared hosting instead of fucking something up and getting rooted.

VPS is safer. Also, try to route the traffic like: User -> Nginx Proxy(port 80 on vps) -> Apache Server (other port on vps). This because nginx handles multi connections and attacks better than apache does, and apache runs the webserver better then nginx. Smile

Sorry but VPS is safer if you know what you are doing. If you are starting out go for a shared hosting to familiarize yourself. Meanwhile build a server on a local pc to test and learn before you move to a VPS
