I disagree. Yes, there are some rappers that are just singing about the thug life. But, most are actually putting together some rhymes that are really complex.

polo g made a new album and some of his songs are really good

Rap is far from dead as a popular genre or as an artform, trap is still doing big numbers on the billboard, and both contemporary and underground artists are doing amazing things rn
examples:
ka, jonwayne, kendrick lamar, travis scott, jpegmafia, aesop rock, big k.r.i.t., billy woods, clipping., i could go on for hours...
