Well perhaps this movie isn't scary to most, but Paranormal Activity was pretty bad for me. I had a couple childhood experiences shortly after my mother passed away that were pretty abnormal. Since that point, I have never been one to watch paranormal-focused horror movies. But my wife talked me into shortly after the movie came out and man, that was such a bad idea. I slept like crap for nearly 2 weeks.

I can watch slasher flicks, gory horror, and pretty much anything else that isn't paranormal-related all day long, but there is just something about those paranormal movies (especially paranormal activity) that just rubs me the wrong way.

I absolutely adore horror and respect the fact that I might be desentisized to being actually scared by them, as I tend to watch one every night and have done so every night. Regardless, it's my favourite genre by a good mile.

I'm still hoping for that feeling when a movie hits you in the nerve and catches you off guard, maybe even creeps into your thoughts later when you're in bed.

So I turn to you my fellow horror fans, what are the movies you have found to be the scariest?

I personally have been most moved and terrified by The Grudge 2004 remake back when I was a teen, Shutter (thai), Halloween, Blair Witch Project, The Descent, It Follows and Hereditary, so kinda everything works for me, except maybe overtly excessive gore. Gimme your best shot!

I love horror films and try to watch a few each week. I enjoy all sub-genres, such as torture porn, slashers, psychological horror, found-footage.... The list goes on. There are a few films I can't bring myself to watch a second time, simply because I'm so scared. These are:

Sinister
Goodnight Mommy
Hereditary
V/H/S 1&2 (most parts are boring but some f****dme up)
