From what I have read, it isn't really worth it to mine bc nowadays, but buying in and holding them for some amount of time will likely be profitable based on the last year of exchange rates.

Don't start with bitcoins as it needs high electricity and you'll suffer from it, start with lower currencies as dogecoin

It's probably better to mine the less known cryptocurrencies as there's much less difficulty and more of a chance at making money back from your electricity bills.
