Terrifyingly huge insect found in China

Sometimes you see something which reminds you of the awe-inspiring beauty that exists in the world.

And sometimes, you see something so horrible that you want to stay inside with the curtains closed forever.

This is in the second category, Im afraid.




It was found in August 2017 during afield trip to Mount Qingcheng in Chengdu.Its wingspan is 11.5cm




Its an eleven inch mosquito that still has living relatives still flying around in China. Thankfully, its only a mosquito in technical terms, as it feeds on nectar rather than blood.

I have to be fair though if one landed on me I would freak the f**k out

Reminds me of Crane Flies and ew they're scary at moments.

But that thing he has there, like 3x their size OwO

That's a pretty cool insect if I have to be honest. Hopefully, more research is done on them to find out what are the other parts used for since it has 6 legs.

I am from UK and find crane flys in my house sometimes, but that for sure aint no crane fly and its on the other side of the world lol

I am sure they will do more research, it is pretty cool, but would you think it is pretty cool if it landed on you xD

I would most likely smack the living shit out of it and repeatedly be stepping on it.

Honestly, I don't find insects to be creepy, I like em and this one looks pretty cool and luckily it doesn't drink blood. Imagine waking up and seeing this massive insect on your arm sucking you dry lol.

okay haha, scientists are classing it as a mosquito but it drinks nectar not blood,but you are right I would run for the hills lol

If that thing tried to suck my blood I would be so freaked out.

Luckily they don't but ikr, lol, mosquitoes are annoying but that would just be damn right... scary!

It looks harmless... How is this terrifying again? Although if I saw one I would duck & weave lol
