The GMod Workshop

So there's something that really bothers me when I'm browsing the workshop, and it's that "This can only be used on this server" shit. Can anyone who does this or knows someone who does this provide insight as to why they do, because it's a scummy move in my opinion.

For justification of my opinion, the workshop literally states that you can't restrict use of addons uploaded.

Providing content is different than providing the full addon. There are developers of addons who only want to provide the content for their addon (which also might be only for their server). Like Zmod Afterlife. The full gamemode was on the workshop until the dev pulled it down and replaced it with the content as they were hosting the gamemode under their own servers.

As a player, I agree that it is a bit scummy, but as a person who messes around with Expression 2, Starfall, and Lua, I understand and support their final decision of keeping their real work private.
