After spending some serious time with the app and watching compilations, I'm pretty confident that Tik Tok is on it's way to becoming the next Vine. It's filling the enormous gaping whole the Vine left in the market, and people are starting to flock towards it. The content on there started out as pretty terrible but it's progressively getting better. Check out some compilations on YouTube and you may change your mind, I know I sure did.
This is one of the first ones I found that made me stop hating it so much:

You just need to find the right profiles. I've definitely seen my fair share or cringe on there but I've found a ton of quality stuff as well.

I never thought 6 seconds videos had all that much merit...figured if a video was only interesting for 6 seconds, it just wasn't good. I never saw a point in Twitter's 140 character messages either, especially once SMS technology was no longer the bottleneck.. 280's not much better, it's still only 1/3rd of an average paragraph.
Maybe I'm the odd one out and just have a longer attention span than most, who knows lol

Nah I definitely agree. I never used Vine, but a ton of my friends did and I remember it being a very popular platform.
