So this is a topic I'm sure many of you here are well aware of, but who knows - some might not be.

Net neutrality is the concept that cable companies cannot discriminate based on the websites they are transferring data to and from, and the services that those on the internet provide.

Cable companies have strongly lobbied for this to be removed so that they can charge us premiums on our cable bills (ex. $5 for facebook, $10 for netfliix, $15 for steam, etc.)

The FCC, led by Ajit Pai, just voted to remove Title 2. They are already being sued by hundreds of different parties and things will have to get battled out in court. We are safe for at the very least 60 days, hopefully more.

Do you think that this vote will hold, or will we be able to win the battle for Net Neutrality?

I really hope Net Neutrality stays. I'm very scared it might affect the UK.

Have you guys heard of the Meshnet? There's one that started in NY, and they're starting on in San Diego, SDMesh.net. Runs on cjdns, could be a great alt to stick it to those large ISPs.
Thoughts?

They have had something sort of like that around for quite a long time WPSOKW ... a lot of "archived clones" of the clearnet reside in a simular network,.

the mesh is going to boooon, just thought about that, now ISPs wont be regulated like the phone line. seriously though, just because it sounds good doesn't mean it is. if you don't trust the co's then you don't trust the gov run by the co's. decentralization.

At least in the US, the legislative is more friendlier towards antipiracy, take the DMCA for example. Net neutrality will always be there with decentralized networks such as Tor, but I think it is important to retain it for an average Joe as well. I dont see any treats to it in the immediate next 5 years future.
