Shortly after announcing the ELEAGUE2018 Major, that will be held in Atlanta and Boston in January, Valve has decided to start their selection process for the second Major of 2018.Even though it is unsure if the Major will be publicly announced as soon as it is decided upon, this would still be a massive change in the time frame in which the Major is awarded. In the past,the upcoming Majorwasonlyselected after the current one finished, with, for example, about two months passing between theend of the PGL Krakow Major and the upcoming ELEAGUE 2018 one being announced. This speedup should allow both tournament organizers and teams to have more time to prepare for the Major than they had before.
Valve intends to run the 13th CS:GOMajor in a fashion similar to the upcoming ELEAGUE2018 onecombining the main qualifier, group stage and the playoffs into a continuous eventand are looking to kick it off at the end of August or the beginning of September.
