What do you think about Elon Musks Starlink?

Such a neat idea. Such very, very cool videos of SpaceX ejecting 60 satellites. Really! It was awesome to watch!

But then

Videos taken by everyday people on Earth, showing sixty satellites tracking across the night sky in a city in Poland, like a line, a little contrail, blazing through the light pollution, brighter than most of the few visible stars.

I think it's a cool idea, but I'm not sure I like it.

As someone who actively stargazes and practices astrophotography, Starlink can sometimes be quite the nuisance. I haven't had too much trouble with it yet, but if Starlink were to be visible constantly it would absolutely ruin the beauty of the night sky.

I also worry about the possibilities of hacking having such a network would bring about.

I would like to see some speed stats though, once it's operational

It may be the way of going online in the future. If the internet speed is fast and stable enough, it is still very good.

I don't need it personally but my friend is excited to have it in his area. His internet is garbage quality right now. He is one of the firstpeople to implement.

I feel like Elon isn't too great of a person, but he is a great businessman.

He made you a company that builds boring tunnels; that one day (so underrated this company), will completely revolutionise how we travel. If anyone thinks going up is a good idea they are sorely mistaken. The tech he's building for this AIO tunnel laying machine is truly outstanding.
He's making you internet with 100% coverage worldwide so no child goes net-free
He's sending us to space with a multi billion dollarpound contract w/ NASA
He's making it feasible and profitable to take us to the Moon, developing the first ever retro rocket that actually bloody lands it's self on drone ships for reusability
He's developing the technology and instruction set (I.E 'how we actually do this without dying') sending us to colonise Mars
He's got a company that specialises in nano technology and emergent practicality for futurism in technology
Oh, and he's making the future of highly accessible fully autonomous cars, trucks as well as the intelligence mapping for them not to kill us.

He's engaging, active, and put every penny into his business(es) that could have failed at any time if you care to look into how it oh so nearly went tits up for him.

Did I miss something? Oh yeah, he also regularly shows people he is, infact human. Unlike another "tech genius" we hear so much about (Zuck the Cuck).

The problem with Elon is that, and I'm not even joking: He's far too intelligent for us mere mortals. I'm assuming whomever reads this has seen Rain Man; and it must be like that for him. You can see how he tries to break it down into as basic an understanding as he can so we can understand... and even then, we really don't. Think how infuriating it must be, just wishing the world was as smart as you so we could better humanity?

The average human hasn't quite caught up with what he said 5 years ago; let alone now. He's so far ahead of the curve he's like Chuck Norris; this dude is the curves.

Elon is also the ONLY good guy looking out for the human race, too. He knows we can't stay on this planet forever, and is trying to get us off of it before it's too late. And tomorrow, it just might be for all we know.

Thank God we have Elon.

What has Jeff Bezos and his trillion done? Realistically when you factor Elon's 99% success rate... Jeff is a shit head smug twat who bleeds commoners dry with market ownership whittling away small business.

He turned the first online book store into a powerhouse
He bought 5 different companies with that money (IMDB, WholeFoods, etc.); ALL of them companies were born from the blood and sweat of others.
He created BlueOrigin because of SpaceX. He saw dollar bills and wanted a slice of what's to come.


Who would you want with you having a beer and a smoke? I'd go Elon 100% of the time. What would I chat to Jeff about; what new island he's just bought? Why he owns a newspaper and feels the need to?

The last point, I'd actually like asking that aha.

Peeps saying about Starlink's light pollution both HAD and have a point. Though, we have to remember that the coating that refracts the light isn't even on what I believe to be a fraction of the overall number (currently active). Plus, it's new technology.

Did we not say the same to "Smog" when burning coal and wood? Do you complain of pollution when you "don't" see the silica mining for 'Energy efficient' (totally not) solar panels? I betcha the locals in the villages and regions around the "rare earth" mining industry does. I bet they shout a lot over the heavy machinery and devastation that goes into your new Smartphone.

Watch the documentary: Planet of the Humans. It'll help you to perhaps see it in a different perspective... the whole 'pollution, man.' when, in reality, it is such a minute issue...

Why does Elon need to change the technology to benefit telescopic tech that's only ever really improved in size, magnification (in part to manufacturing improving allowing better metal production and clear and more imperfection-freeglass manufacturing)and ease of use, imo. Why has no one spun the wheel, and thought: "Hmm. I wonder if I can make a better telescope that relies not upon mirror refraction and absolute perfect condition to utilise" instead of blaming someone else's idea on a very archaic form of viewing apparatus?
