What is the point of smoking?

I know smoking is relaxing and has other advantages but why when you knew Smoking could cause you cancer,death and also get these 2 things into your friend (who doesn't smoke) if you always do it beside him because he absorbs %60 of it?

I swore to myself since 6 years old that i will never smoke and i kept this promise till now and will continue forever
