I am currently learning Python, C++ and LUA through my school and i really hate that class but i appreciate how much I have learned from it. I would recommend getting in one of those classes if you have the choice.

Lua, unfortunately; almost everything about this language makes me mad when coming from the perspective of Java, Kotlin, and C#. There's some nice things about it. But, man, global by default? no null coalescing? +=? arrays start at 1?

Tooling is pretty awful as well. EmmyLua for IntelliJ is OK but definitely not up to par with the tooling available for most JVM languages.

And, of course, not so much of a Lua issue but I love type safety. I want a statically and strongly typed language.

I'm trying to learn LUA so i can create my really own custom garry's mod DarkRP server but i think it will take me a little bit of time to learn the basics and then jump into something more advanced Smile

im learning currently LUA too :D
its indeed very beginner friendly

i learned C++ a bit in the past with libGDX but it was very frustrating

OT: what is better for beginners to learn a programming language- Java or LUA? (dont come up with learning software where you have predefined codeblocks :p )

I've been learning Java through uni for a little while now. Bit dry and the syntax is brutal but its transferable!

I'm currently self-learning ruby. I'm seriously considering buying a course, since all videos on it are outdated.

I know a bit of C#, and learning C++. C++ Is fun but challenging since it's particularly low level and due to that has more in's and out's than C#. Hoping to get somewhere sometimethough. Tried assembly but it's just too confusing. Good luck to everyone here also trying to learn!
Cheers. Have a nice day!

I'm currently trying to learn Angular.js, moving from Bootstrap.
For a computer language for making programs, I've really mastered Java, or at least for what I do... And I'm trying to learn C++, but it's the hardest one I've tried to learn so far.
