I personally love all the mod pack with quests based using ftb quests or hardcore quest mods.
It's just awesome to play with your friends and complete all the quests, playing without quests can just become annoying after some times.

For me minecraft still is survival game so I want to boost that experience instead of being able to slay everything after day 1
