If it is signed his name I cant turn it into a bank so I would give it to him in hopes that he would give me something.

I don't really understand the context... attempting to cash a check that is not to you is fraud and as I've heard it, because the bank is mandated by the FDIC, that would be a federal offense and you'd quickly be handed over to the authorities for decades in jail. To me, the risk just isn't worth the reward. Now if I FOUND a million in cash.....

Yeah, maybe try to contact him somehow and give it to him, (asking for a reward for finding it of course). A good exchange, 10% of the total value.
