Why did you end your first relationship?

My first relationship was pretty much one-sided. I gave more than I should've and realized everything I did was not being reciprocated. Sometimes a person's words are just that, so I left them. I believe I ended things on Christmas Eve. It isn't something I'm proud of but it felt necessary. I didnt want to feel incomplete on Christmas day. :/
