Why do people lie?

People lie because they can. I don't lie, and when I do. I try to get out of situations. Or into situations. Depends. Social Engineering is the way. Anyway, lying for validation is shit.

In My eyes, mostly too hide bad things, that you did, or that happened, thats my oppinon why people lie in my eyes.

there are several reasons I have lied. most of the time though is because I don't like people informed on my personal life/business.

the worst lie I can think of rn is when I was a kid and I lied to my grandma about taking money.

This is a tough one, In my eye's people like because they are scared of how the person or persons will react to the truth.
Sometimes though lying will always come out as lies. and people will always find out. I've lied in the past and am not proud of it.
But it's gotten me out of trouble rather few times.

You definitely need a good memory if you're a liar! i have a shit one, so its got to be a big lie from me if i going to lie :ultralul:

Lie to hide something bad that you did, lie not to ruin a surprise party, lie to hide some failure, lie not to hurt someone that you like... Anyway, the reasons are as diverse and / or different as possible.

When I lie to someone its mostly because the truth is way worse

For no context, usually self-gain. It will usually stem from some form of protection, benefit or claims to be helping someone as a form of self-inflation.

I don't think most people lie for a malicious reason. They're usually trying to protect someone's feelings, thinking they're doing the better course of action.
