London Marathon bosses are investigating after an imposter picked up a runners fallen race number less than two miles from the end and then stole his medal. Exhausted Jake Halliday is said to have lost his competitor number around 15 minutes from the end of last Sundays event.

Because runners are not allowed to take part without official numbers, gutted Jake was apparently taken off the course just after he hit 24 miles. But a spectator picked up his missing bib 35179 and ran the last few miles before making off with his silverware.

The hoaxer who appears to be naked from the waist up can even be seen at the end in official marathon photos with Jakes race number clearly visible kissing the stolen medal.

Jake was running for blood cancer charity Bloodwise and was last tracked with 1.4 miles to go. He was estimated to finish the marathon in under three and three quarter hours.

Honestly why you would do this is beyond me, this guy should be ashamed of himself!

Because, as I said. When someone perceive something as vital to their survival, they do crazy shit. This dude saw this medal as vital for his survival on some form, what that is exactly is unknown. Maybe he wanted to sell it, maybe he longed for attention, maybe he wanted to be someone. All which have an affect on human survival in today's society.

I agree. Some take it really far to soothe their addictions. Not caring about others but just or themselves, Don't get me wrong not all are bad just most.

Gotta admit, his way was a lot easier... if I had to choose, I'd rather do that than run a full marathon, personally..

I'd probably hold off on the medal-kissing until I got home though
