You should check out Vintage Story, its made by old school minecraft modders, please remember that just because they are from minecraft backgrounds and the game is made of blocks does not mean it is all too much like minecraft, it has much better optimization and built in shaders and all the fun stuff minecraft doesnt have native support for, but the vibe and playstyle of Vintage Story is not all too much like minecraft and the gameplay has varied difficulties from die or die to live a peaceful life..

I don't think there will be an alternitive to Minecraft, because minecraft was so long in development and nobody could remake Minecaft so fast, that there will be an alternitive.

well i think the upcoming hytale is going to be very cool, but wasnt there were a rumor about notch making minecraft 2? xD

Hytale has insane potential, seeing how insanely popular a game with terrible business practices and troubled development like Trove got, and how much of a cultural impact an "unfinished" game like Cube World had, I feel like Hytale will be a juggernaut when it drops.

there already are alternatives, but they clearly arent competing. minecraft will always be the GOAT of survival games
